Workshops

Workshops @ Rice University

ACE@Rice hosts an annual writing workshop at Rice University for students that participate in the Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning (CERCL)’s essay contest. The goal of this full-day workshop is to hone the writing skills of high school students who will soon be writing college entrance essays. These essays make an initial impression on college application committees, and from our experience in higher education, a strong application essay can make or break acceptance to an institution. The essay writing workshop includes breakout instruction and writing sessions, lunch, an admissions talk and a tour of Rice University’s campus.

Workshops @ High Schools

One of the goals outlined in Rice’s Vision for the Second Century includes the formation of valuable collaborative relationships with other institutions. Our members visit participating high schools to offer targeted writing workshops, talk to students about attending college and support educators by bringing Rice’s resources “beyond the hedges”.
