Welcome!

ACE@Rice is a collective of graduate and undergraduate students on Rice’s campus that represents a diverse array of research and academic strengths. The acronym ACE stands for Academic and Cultural Empowerment, and our mission is to develop cultural and academic programs that foster relationships between Rice, Houston communities, and various urban high schools in Houston. We work primarily with HISD (Houston Independent School District) Title I schools, as they are often overlooked by other high school outreach programs.

ACE@Rice student club members build on CERCL’s Arts Engagement Initiative by working with community partner organizations. Students will contribute to these initiatives through assisting with the biannual Quilt Exhibit co-hosted with the Community Artists’ Collective and programs and events created by the CERCL Artist-in-Residence. Student club members will also lead CERCL’s High School Outreach Initiatives, working closely with high school students and teachers. As part of this initiative, they will foster critical thinking skills through our annual High School Essay Contest, facilitate writing workshops on Rice’s campus and at participating high schools, and motivate high school students to pursue further education after they graduate.

We are always looking for Rice Students to join ACE@Rice JOIN @ OWLNEST
